Drug screening and biological assays
c-Met, also called tyrosine-protein kinase Met or hepatocyte growth factor receptor (HGFR), is a protein that in humans is encoded by the MET gene. Abnormal activation of cMet due to overexpression of Met or its ligands, fusion mutation as well as exon14 skipping have been implicated In oncogenesis. Ba/F3, a murine interleukin-3 dependent pro-B cell line is increasingly popular as a model system for assessing both the potency and downstream signaling of kinase oncogenes, and the ability of small-molecule kinase inhibitors to block kinase activity.
