Recombinant CHO-K1 cells have been developed to stably overexpress human bombesin receptor subtype 3 (BB3) on their surface. These cells contain high levels of the G protein Gαq, which is essential for coupling with the receptor in downstream signaling pathways.
Drug screening and biological assays
The BB3 gene, or BRS3 (bombesin receptor subtype 3), encodes a G protein - coupled receptor. It has a more restricted tissue distribution compared to BB1 and BB2. BRS3 is involved in the regulation of various physiological functions, including thermogenesis, energy balance, and cardiovascular function. Its activation can affect heart rate, blood pressure, and body temperature regulation.
