A CHO-K1 cell line has been engineered to stably overexpress human cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) on its surface. This cell line contains high levels of the G protein Gαi, which is crucial for coupling with the receptor in downstream signaling pathways.
Drug screening and biological assays
The CNR1 gene encodes the cannabinoid receptor type 1 (CB1), a G protein - coupled receptor. It is widely distributed in the central nervous system, especially in areas involved in motor control, pain perception, memory, and appetite regulation. Endocannabinoids and exogenous cannabinoids (such as those from marijuana) bind to CB1 receptors, modulating neuronal activity and neurotransmitter release. CB1 receptor activation has effects on mood, cognition, and motor function.
