A CHO-K1 cell line has been engineered to stably overexpress human cholecystokinin A receptor (CCKA) on its surface. This cell line contains high levels of both G protein Gαq and Gαs, which are crucial for coupling with the receptor in downstream signaling pathways.
Drug screening and biological assays
The CCKA gene, also known as CCKAR, encodes the cholecystokinin A receptor, a G protein - coupled receptor. Cholecystokinin (CCK), a peptide hormone, binds to CCKAR. This receptor is mainly expressed in the gallbladder, pancreas, and the gastrointestinal tract. Activation of CCKAR by CCK regulates gallbladder contraction, pancreatic enzyme secretion, and satiety signals in the brain, playing important roles in digestion and appetite control.
