A CHO-K1 cell line has been created to stably overexpress human chemerin chemokine-like receptor 1 (CMKLR1) on its surface. This cell line contains high levels of the G protein Gαi, which is crucial for coupling with the receptor in downstream signaling pathways.
Drug screening and biological assays
The CMKLR1 gene encodes the chemerin receptor 23 (ChemR23), a G protein - coupled receptor. Chemerin, a chemoattractant protein, binds to CMKLR1. This receptor is expressed in various immune cells, including dendritic cells, macrophages, and natural killer cells, as well as in adipose tissue. Activation of CMKLR1 by chemerin is involved in immune cell migration, inflammation regulation, and adipose tissue metabolism. It plays a role in processes such as wound healing, infection defense, and metabolic disorders.
