Introduction

Recombinant CHO-K1 cells have been developed to stably overexpress human prostaglandin E receptor 2 (PTGER2) on their surface. These cells contain high levels of the G protein Gαs, which is crucial for coupling with the receptor in downstream signaling pathways.

Application

Drug screening and biological assays

Background

PTGER2, or the prostaglandin E receptor 2, is another G-protein coupled receptor for PGE2. Unlike PTGER1, PTGER2 activation by PGE2 leads to increased cyclic AMP (cAMP) production, which has anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. PTGER2 is involved in regulating immune responses, smooth muscle relaxation, and renal function. It is a potential therapeutic target for inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
