Introduction

Recombinant CHO-K1 cells have been engineered to stably overexpress the human tachykinin receptor 1 (NK1) on their surface, and they contain high levels of the G proteins Gαq and Gαs, which are involved in coupling with the receptor to facilitate downstream signaling pathways.

Application

Drug screening and biological assays

Background

TACR1, or the tachykinin receptor 1 (also known as the neurokinin 1 receptor), is a G-protein coupled receptor that binds substance P, a neuropeptide involved in pain transmission, neurogenic inflammation, and emotional responses. Activation of TACR1 by substance P leads to various cellular responses, including pain sensation, vasodilation, and bronchoconstriction. It is a target for drugs used to treat nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy and other conditions.
