A stable HEK293 cell line expressing the human CCR5 receptor. This cell line is useful for studying the interactions of CCR5 with its ligands, particularly in the context of HIV-1 infection and chemotaxis. The stable expression of CCR5 allows for consistent and reliable experimental results.
Binding assay by FACS and cell based ELISA.
The CCR5 gene encodes a chemokine receptor that belongs to the G protein-coupled receptor family. It is expressed on the surface of T cells, macrophages, and dendritic cells. CCR5 serves as a co-receptor for the entry of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) into host cells. Individuals with a deletion mutation in the CCR5 gene (CCR5-Δ32) are resistant to HIV-1 infection. CCR5 also plays a role in the migration of immune cells to sites of inflammation and in the regulation of immune responses.
