A stable HEK293 cell line expressing low levels of the human glucagon receptor (GCGR). This cell line is optimized for low expression of GCGR, allowing for the study of receptor function and signaling pathways under conditions of low receptor density.
Useful for cell-based GCGR binding assay
The GCGR gene encodes the glucagon receptor, a G protein-coupled receptor. It is mainly expressed in the liver and pancreas. Glucagon binds to its receptor and activates a signaling cascade that leads to the breakdown of glycogen into glucose (glycogenolysis) and the production of glucose from non-carbohydrate sources (gluconeogenesis), thereby increasing blood glucose levels. Dysregulation of glucagon signaling is associated with metabolic disorders, such as diabetes mellitus.
