HEK293-Human GLP-1R (Luc)-Reporter Cell

Catalog Number CBCL-0037
Price Online Inquiry
Unit Quantity 5 x 10^6 cells / 1.0 ml

Introduction

A recombinant HEK293 cell line expressing the human glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) fused with a luciferase reporter gene. This cell line is used to study the activation of the GLP-1R receptor and its downstream signaling pathways through luciferase activity.

Application

Screen for agonists that can bind and activate GLP-1R

Background

The GLP-1R gene encodes the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor, a G protein-coupled receptor. It is expressed in pancreatic beta cells, the brain, and the gastrointestinal tract. GLP-1 is secreted by the intestinal L cells in response to food intake and binds to its receptor on beta cells, stimulating insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner. GLP-1 also inhibits glucagon secretion, slows gastric emptying, and promotes satiety. GLP-1 receptor agonists are used as drugs for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity.
