Background

Delta-like protein 1 (DLL1) is also known as Drosophila Delta homolog 1 (Delta1 or H-Delta-1). DLL1 is involved in the regulation of homeostasis and differentiation of neural, pancreatic, and myogenic progenitor cells, T lymphocytes, and B lymphocytes. DLL1 is expressed in lung, liver, breast, and other cancers. As a membrane ligand, DLL1 binds to the Notch receptor and Notch signaling in cancer cells "in trans", enhancing tumorigenesis.
