Background

LIFR, also named as CD118, is a transmembrane protein belonging to type I cytokine receptor family, LIFR together with a high-affinity converter subunit, gp 130, form a heterodimer complex that mediates the action of the leukemia inhibitory factor, a polyfunctional cytokine that is involved in cellular differentiation, proliferation and survival in the of a wide variety of cells in the adult and the embryo.
