Stable MDCK cell line expressing exogenous human MDR1 gene
Drug screening and biological assays
MDR1, also known as ABCB1, is a glycoprotein which is a well-characterized ABC-transporter of the MDR/TAP subfamily. MDR1 is an important protein of the cell membrane that pumps many foreign substances out of cells, and itisan ATP-dependent efflux pump with broad substrate specificity. MDR1 is expressed primarily in certain cell types in the liver, pancreas, kidney, colon, and jejunum. MDR1 is also found in brain capillary endothelial cells.
