SLC39A6, also named as LIV1, is a membrane of the solute carrier family 39 with a multi-span transmembrane protein with putative zinc transporter and metalloproteinase activity. SLC39A6 was first identified as an an estrogen-induced gene in breast cancer, then detected in other tumors on pancreatic, prostate, breast, melanoma, cervical, and uterine.
