IGF1R also named CD221, is a receptor tryrosin kinase activated by a hormone IGF1 and a related hormone IGF2. IGF1R plays an important role in growth, anabolism and body size. The overactivation of IGF1R due to increased level or mutation was found in several primary and metastatic cancer. Ba/F3, a murine interleukin-3 dependent pro-B cell line is increasingly popular as a model system for assessing both the potency and downstream signaling of kinase oncogenes, and the ability of small-molecule kinase inhibitors to block kinase activity.
