The Senior Director will identify and pursue new business opportunities at pharmaceutical biotech, specialty pharma, diagnostic and medical device companies, resulting in RFPs and contracts and achieving assigned revenue goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide operational support for business development
- Work independently, or with other team members to identify and pursue new business opportunities at pharmaceutical biotech, specialty pharma, diagnostic, and medical device companies
- Develop and present company's capabilities, and coordinate face-to-face and teleconference meetings with new and existing clients
- Maintain client relationships through all stages of the procurement process, during contract facilitation negotiations, and during contract performance
- Represent the company at trade shows and conferences and follow up on marketing initiatives in your territory to ensure repeat and new business opportunities
- Contribute to the overall operations and the achievement of departmental goals
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Master's degree in Science (biology, chemistry, or related)
- 1-3 years of experience in business development
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required
- Must have strong, demonstrated knowledge of drug discovery and development
- Highly independent, self-starter with an ability to take input from all levels of the BD and Operations teams to create clear and effective presentations
- Ability to communicate independently with external clients and all levels within the organization
- Essential to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and written, throughout the sales cycle and afterward
- Must exhibit positive, professional demeanor in all communications; must maintain an effective working relationship with internal clients
- Proven, documented sales track-record
- Extensive relationships in the pharmaceutical, biotech and device industry, which will translate to quickly delivering new clients to the business
- Able to develop comprehensive territory plan and penetrate new territory and companies with minimal direction and management
- Highly focused, goal-oriented, able to prioritize well
- Basic understanding of FDA Guidelines, ICH, GCP, NOA, IND and other applicable regulations
- Must have exceptional communication skills, both verbally and in writing
